Central Queensland – A Pleasure

The people of Rockhampton and Yeppoon are renowned for their genuine hospitality and warmth, something we’ve experienced firsthand through our involvement with the Keppel Bay Sailing Club and the Rockhampton Jockey Club. The friendly and welcoming nature of the locals truly stands out, making us feel like part of the community.

At the Keppel Bay Sailing Club, we’ve been embraced by a community that values camaraderie and the joy of sailing. We’ve been working on a Strategic Plan that considers the intertwined needs of both sailing and hospitality stakeholders. The draft plan is currently before the Board for consideration. The members are always eager to share their passion for the sea, offering tips and stories with a smile. Their warmth and appreciation for the beauty of Yeppoon’s coastline create an inviting atmosphere that made our visit special.

Similarly, our experiences with the Rockhampton Jockey Club have been marked by the genuine friendliness and enthusiasm of its Management Committee, CEO and staff. Having completed the Strategic Plan for the club in September 2024, the club has made tremendous strides in a short period of time, ticking off many initiatives. With Master Planning set to commence shortly, the club will then have a blueprint to guide activities and decision-making. The locals’ love for horse racing is infectious, and their willingness to share their knowledge and excitement makes every event memorable. The sense of community and purpose at the Jockey Club is a testament to club leaders.

Together, the communities of Rockhampton and Yeppoon, as seen through the Keppel Bay Sailing Club and the Rockhampton Jockey Club, embody the true spirit of Queensland hospitality. The warmth, friendliness and genuine appreciation for our work make these places a pleasure to visit.
